How to create your own Rival

Have you always wanted headphones to suit your own taste? Ready2music makes it possible! With a special environmentally resistant wrap you can now order headphones with your own design. At no extra cost*

We are currently working on a browser plugin that will allow you to easily create your headphones online. Until we're done, we've prepared a tutorial for you here so you can create your own rival with any graphics program.

*Please note that we have to charge a processing fee for 3 or more correction loops. The entire processing up to the dispatch of the headphones can take up to 3 weeks depending upon order situation. Individually designed headphones are excluded from revocation. The warranty of 2 years from date of purchase remains unaffected. Please read our terms and conditions.

If you have problems with the data, you can contact us here.

2. Create your design

Open the file which most closely corresponds to your graphics program. Use the AI file for Adobe Illustrator, the PDF file for vector-based programs, or the TIFF file for Photoshop or other pixel-based programs.

The files are designed in such a way that all the auxiliary lines lie on a separate layer. This layer serves only as a help and must not be altered.

  • Place your design on the layer "YOUR ARTWORK HERE"
  • Make sure that your design reaches at least the magenta coloured bleed line
  • Make sure that important elements, such as your logo, do not protrude beyond the safe space (green line).
  • The cut lines MUST be on a separate layer, otherwise they will be printed as well.

3. Please note

Let your creativity run free, but please pay attention to these points:

Please use only material (pictures, fonts, etc.) for which you own the complete copyrights. We reserve the right to request a written copyright license in exceptional cases.

We reserve the right to reject designs with unconstitutional, illegal, racist or inhuman content without comment.

Only use material with sufficient resolution (at least 300dpi). Do not scale image material larger than the original size.

Create your design in CMYK colour mode. Since printing is done on a 4-color press, images in RGB colour mode may be subject to colour space cropping. This means that extreme colours such as poisonous green or violet may appear weakened after printing.

The design must continue at least to the magenta coloured bleed line. Otherwise, white flashes may appear at the edge.

Important elements such as logos and the like should be placed within the safe area (green line).

Don't forget: The headphones have 2 sides, so there are always 2 templates each, which are marked with right and left (as seen from the headphone carrier when wearing the headphone). If you want the same design on both sides, just delete one of the two templates

4. Save and send

For vector-based programs such as Inkscape, Illustrator,...

  • Always save your work in its original format for your own safety
  • Convert all fonts to paths and embed all images in the document
  • Check the colour space (=CMYK) and the resolution (=300dpi)
  • Check that the guides are on a separate layer.
  • Save the document as a printable PDF file.

For pixel-based programs like Gimp, Photoshop, Corel Draw,...

  • Always save your work in its original format for your own safety
  • Reduce all layers except the layer with the guides to keep the file size small.
  • Check the colour space (=CMYK) and resolution (=300dpi).
  • Check that the guides are on a separate layer.
  • Save the document as an uncompressed TIFF

5. Correction loop

We want to make sure that everything is in order with your data, so we will send you a preview of your headphones by email as soon as possible, or point out possible problems with your design. (The entire processing up to the dispatch of the headphones can take up to 3 weeks depending upon order situation.)

  • If you see any problem in the preview, simply send us a correction or contact our team, which will help you personally.

  • If the preview is in order, please confirm this mail with the sentence: "Good to print" (This obliges you to purchase)
